BOE Meeting Summary

The majority of this meeting was Student Awards Presentation where many students were honored for their achievements in academics, music, and sports. Spelling Bee Champions were also honored including Alisa Reid from Plaza. The top ten students of the Class of 2016 , AP Scholars, All-State Music and Sports Honorees were also recognized.

During the BOE meeting portion of the evening, Karyn Reid mentioned that Dr. Camhi won the Honorary Life at Council of PTA's Luncheon and also a National Superintendent to Watch Award (from another group) For the second award there were only 25 total recipients and no other superintendent on LI was honored. What the Community Is Talking About-

Only one person spoke during the comment session. This individual is very concerned about nepotism in the district's hiring process and wants a signed affidavit from top administrators listing relatives working in the district. Wants to uncover friends who have received favors from BOE members and administrators. Once he exhausted his three minute time limit, no one else in the audience wanted to speak. This individual then suggested he should be able to speak for the whole 30 minutes time slot that was allotted to Community Input. The BOE did not agree and simply began the business portion of the meeting.
